Simply interact with each one, help the bots lift up the rock, and they will be added to your collection. Around the edge of the main hub area is where you will find the bots from Astro’s Playroom. These will appear automatically once they have been unlocked them; there is no specific importing process or menu screen to go through first. Go back along to the front of the blue pipes and the sandstorm, and this time, go along the outside on the right.

If you miss and trigger the checkpoint on the lower platform you’ll need to restart the level to try again, if you don’t trigger it you can just jump off the side. To fly as far as possible you should hold the controller tilted back the whole way, then jump when you want to drop. Also at the second Checkpoint, head left along the cliff to find a Bot kneeling in front of a lad with a staff. The Bot with the staff is the Maiden in Black, a demon who uses souls collected by the player character to help them level up in the Nexus.

There are 14 Silver Trophies‚ focusing on core story completion and collectible-based achievements. These trophies reward progression through levels and discovering hidden items. Each level of the game has at least a few checkpoints, so do not worry if Astro is accidentally killed. Especially if he’s grabbed a collector’s item while performing a difficult stunt. During the passage of the next levels of the game, you will come across a lot of bots. You can stop them in their tracks by attacking them with fists or lasers in your legs.

Gaming

This references the Castlevania series, specifically 1997’s Symphony of the Night on PS1, by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo. At the start of GPU Jungle, check along the left-hand side between two trees for a lower section with four Bots with various weapons on their backs huddled around a campfire. This is a reference to 2002’s Monster Hunter on PS2, developed by Capcom.

Instead it’s used to connect to a PlayStation 5 and play compatible games via Remote Play (a feature that dates back to the PlayStation Vita playing PS3 games). It retains the signature haptic feedback and adaptive trigger motors of the DualSense controller. The PS5’s Pulse headset is a headset designed to use 3D audio with PS4 and PS5 games that support it, allowing for sounds to be heard as if all around the player, similar to a surround sound system. It also features two microphones that can cancel out background noises, and still has a 3.5mm jack to use as a standard headset. The PlayStation Vita was the successor to the PSP, featuring an OLED touch screen, two analog sticks, both a front and rear-facing camera, and a touch pad on the back.

Once collected, these artifacts are sent back to the main hub of Astro’s Playroom, where you can run and bounce on giant-sized (yet photorealistic) versions of them. It doesn’t stop at the collectibles; some bots pay tribute to past icons. You’ll see a bot holding a camera throughout the levels as they record their companions as fellow PlayStation characters. For example, you’ll see bots dressed up as Kratos and Atreus from God of War trying to row a boat. G28 ‘ll even see a bot dressed up as Snake from Metal Gear Solid, and when you kick the box, it makes the classic alert sound each time you kick. Sony boldly chose Astro Bot to lead the PlayStation 5 with the tech demo Astro’s Playroom.

If you want an idea of what each Gatcha ball gives, puzzle pieces are obvious, silver balls are the Gatcha Prizes, and the gold balls are the Artifacts. If you need more coins you can go replay levels you’ve already completed, grabbing the Puzzle Pieces and Artifacts again because those give a large number of coins when you obtained them again. The real gimmick of Astro’s Playroom is the utilization of the DualSense controller.

Astro’s Playroom

The game runs at a full 4K resolution and a smooth 60fps as well and it makes great use of its color palette and lighting. The soundtrack is catchy and playful just as you would expect from a platformer and the 3D audio really helps add to the immersion. The speaker on the DualSense controller plays a lot of sounds out of it which is something I always enjoy and each one is done really well here to help add to the experience. The trophy hunters out there will even find 46 trophies here including a Platinum.

For instance‚ finding all artifacts in a world or solving a puzzle unlocks these trophies. These collectibles are hidden across levels‚ requiring exploration and attention to detail. There are 24 artifacts (6 in each world) and 40 puzzle pieces spread across four worlds. Collecting these not only earns trophies but also unlocks special content. These trophies encourage players to thoroughly explore each level‚ making the journey to 100% completion both rewarding and engaging.
